Create. Collaborate. Grow.
A Sanctuary for Door County living.
We are an environmentally-focused small-home intentional community. We are a network of neighbors living, collaborating, and growing together. And we are a shared ecosystem of meadow & forest, flora & fauna.
Our 40 acres includes a cathedral-canopy of trees as its central axis, outside of which we will build our homes. Centrally located in northern Door County, we are a short drive to Sister Bay, Ephraim, Fish Creek, and Baileys Harbor.
We maintain trails in the meadows and woods for sauntering and exploring.
Flora witnessed in our first two summers: (clockwise from upper left) bellflower, pink clover, milkweed with caterpillar, morning glory, sweet pea, flax/linseed, & ox eye daisy. From this starting point, we seek to re-plant and re-store native pollinator species to support our local ecosystem.
Our central woods of pines, maples, birches, and cedars is maintained for walking, forest-bathing, and continual rejuvenation.
And the re-forestation of the outer perimeter of open conservation area has begun with our first 800 new seedling pines, cedars, tamaracks, and spruces being planted in from 2021 through 2024. In additional 225 small trees have been transplanted from the footprints of the homes and driveways to the open meadow re-forestation areas. And the small oak project is underway.
We can build up to 13 homes in our neighborhood on Boreal Lane. And we will maintain our shared 32 acres of surrounding open fields and meadows in conservation, to be used for future tree reforestation & pollinator flower planting, and walking & enjoyment.
Our first home at Boreal. This 900 sq-ft residence, finished in early 2022, was designed by Taliesen / Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture - trained Chad Cornette of Cantilever Studio, with an aesthetic emphasizing natural light, native building materials, and deep engagement with the surrounding woods and meadows.
We currently have 3 homes and a barn, on the edge of the woods, on the edge of the boreal forests. Here, we begin our community, with year-round smart living and wise energy use, in sync with Mother Nature amidst our boreal / northern climate.
